Who we are

It started many years ago, when Don Turner got his discharge papers from the U.S. Army. He headed back to his Alabama roots and like a few other young men from this region, he took to racing on the southern dirt tracks. His initial sponsorship came from a man who owned a Philips 66 gas station and thus a partnership was born. In this partnership, Don began to understand not only racing and sponsorship, but he developed a deep understanding of the oil/gas/drilling industry. Flash forward two decades and Don was a successful owner of a water well and core drilling company.

T. (Tyler) Colvin Turner remembers his father’s calloused hands and sun-drenched face, the result of spending days on a drill site. Whether it was water wells, core drilling, or coal/gas/oil exploration, Colvin’s father, Don, was the epitome of hard honest work. Don always made sure he could lay his head down at night and be proud of the work he had accomplished that day. This example left a lasting impression on his family and set forth the legacy that is being built upon to this day. Investing in the oil and gas business was Mr. Turner’s effort to, “leave something behind”.

Don’s son T. (Tyler) Colvin Turner is growing and expanding on his father’s vision. Colvin, along with his wife Marcy, set out to create Baylor Oil and Gas as a legacy not only too the past, but to future generations of the family.
